Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM)Delayed3

RAMS Tech offers a course to increase the knowledge within RAM for those who wishes to increase system availability or to learn more about RAM. The course is based on the standard EN 50126 which defines the life cycle in order to plan, manage and survey all phases, from concept to decommissioning, regarding RAM. The standard is developed for the rail industry, but the same method applies for several industries.

Contents of the RAM course:

  • Understanding the importance of RAM
  • Concepts behind RAM
  • Overview of the life cycle phases from EN 50126 regarding RAM
  • Insight in different methods such as FTA and FMEA
  • Measures to improve RAM and lower life cycle costs
  • Course length: 3h
  • Prerequisites: None

SafetySkärmavbild 2017-01-16 kl. 13.51.53

The course covers the V model and how to work with Safety through out the life cycle, from concept to decommissioning, and gives examples in documentation and methods.

Contents of the Safety course:

  • Review of the V model
  • Application and implementation through the life cycle
  • Useful methods and analyzes
  • Verification & validation through the life cycle
  • Course length: 3h
  • Prerequisites: None

Functional Safetystop everything

Functional Safety is part of the overall safety within a system or process that depends on the correct function of the system or process based on its inputs. The course is based on IEC 61508, which refers to Functional Safety for electrical, electronic or programmable electronic systems and where concepts such as SIL (Safety Integrity Level) is covered. The course also includes related standards within the process, machine and railway industry. The aim is to give a complete review of standards within Functional Safety and how to interprete and use them. Examples will also be gives on useful methods to assess and reduce risk.

Contents of the Functional Safety course:

  • Introduction to the different standards IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and ISO 13849-1
  • Theori and concepts within Functional Safety
  • Review of the Safety life cycle from IEC 61508
  • Hazard and Risk analyzes eg. HARA, PHA and HAZOP
  • SIL classification
  • Course length: 6h
  • Prerequisites: None

Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)Skärmavbild 2017-01-16 kl. 12.14.52

FMEA and FMECA are "Bottom-up" methods with purpose to increase availability or safety in systems. The method focuses on idetifying components' potential failure modes and successively assess the risks and cuase connected to the failure modes and eventually obtain the most critical componnents and find solutions to improve availability or safety. The course is for those who wants to learn how to work with the method and what you actually can gain on finding the weakest links in the chain.

Contents of the FMECA course:

  • Introduction and background to FMECA
  • Different applications
  • How to use FMECA
  • Difference bewteen System, Process and Design FMECA
  • Course length: 2h
  • Prerequisites: None

Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)Skärmavbild 2017-01-13 kl. 14.28.21

Fault Tree Analysis is a "Top-down" method that aims towards identifying faults or combination av faults which can result in the occurance of the unwanted top event. By creating tree structured diagrams where unwanted events are branches down to component level and its failure data, the unavailability for the top event is obtained. The goal with the course is to increase the knowledge in how to work with Fault Trees and how to improve system or process availability and safety with it.

Contents of the FTA course:

  • Concept and symbols within FTA
  • How to construct and analyze Fault Trees
  • Relationship between FMECA and FTA
  • Course length: 2h
  • Prerequisites: None
